This might be old news; I just looked it up and was disappointed to see that they didn't succeed.

Although I am not sure, probably it can not be used with a fully free system because FPGAs require proprietary software to program.

Talking about fundraising, I have made a web site for the fundraising campaign of a friend who needs help to pay for his legal defense from a mistaken accusation. Please donate! Bitcoin address: 1MCTLYKSAmBSjk8Tg32YcaUF9bKifHVA6N

No surprise as the level of performance offered was way beyond the practical needs of overwhelming majority of computer users, and the retail price of a working product ($7,100!) was way, WAY beyond their means. $2,500 is about the limit of the high end, with $1,000 being the beginning of the high end, and between $500 and $1,000 is the norm. The sub-$500 market is dominated by Chromebooks and the secondhand sector.

re '1 or 2 CPUs supported: both are AMD Opteron 6272 2.1GHz 16 cores per CPU (32 cores if selecting 2 CPUs)'

2.1GHz isn't especially fast but with 16 cores would that be like 2.1GHz X 16 = 33.6GHz?

I guess it's like $2500 to $5000 USD.

I don't imagine they can guarantee against MITD attacks during shipping. Aye! Always something to worry about.
