While we haven't (@ libre.thinkpenguin.com) got the Ultrabook model finalized I do have good news regarding other models. We have a fairly slim 14" model with built-in optical drive available and a new 15.6" model.

There is also a new version of the Penguin Wee to be released in the coming weeks. There are several improvements available including: an internal wireless N card and better support for certain features. It's ready to ship although won't be available until we've sold out of the current stock.

We may be releasing a new all-in-one desktop. Unlike traditional all-in-ones this will be based on standardized components. That basically means its upgradeable and easily repairable. So for those who have hated all-in-ones for the proprietary nature of the design it's no longer an issue.

First, I want to say that maybe you shouldn't advertise for the next product when you need to sell the current stock first.

Second, why aren't you putting bigger pictures, especially in laptops ?
Don't you think that customers would rather have a couple of real life mobile phone pictures (2-3 mega pixels) of a product, than a small, rendered like, image ?

"Just my two cents."

I hear you.

We will be including larger images in the future once our new web site is up. One of the reasons we use lower resolution images is down to cost. It's an intentional design decision in the layout of the page. They are easier for me to work with. That means it costs less to put up new products. We haven't hired a graphics designer yet to put together something fancier. And while I could do it myself the time required doesn't justify it. There are lots of things that need to be worked on. It makes more sense to hold off on this issue until the new site is up. You can look forward to larger images and other improvements in October (if things move forward as planned, they currently are).

Making announcements about new and/or upcoming products can be helpful to those thinking about a purchase. Wouldn't you appreciate it if someone told you that there was a new version right around the corner? If it has some feature you would like than holding off might be of value.

We don't have significant stock left of the old model so if your concern was that it would delay the new model as the result of everybody holding off it won't. I think I might have even implied that. Sorry about that. It'll probably be out by the end of week and actually maybe sooner. We try and keep some stock even after we are “sold out” in order to take care of potential warranty issues.

Does Apple have a patent on all white or silver laptops? Too many laptops I see are all boring and black.

If Apple has a valid patent on it every major manufacturer has violated it.

Well said Chris :)
Apple has the "right" to sue anyone which has something that looks at least something like someone at Apple has thought about.

But back on topic I would like to agree with teodorescup:
Provide bigger pictures of your boxes. At least for the smaller barebones it would be interesting to have a look into the box.

For me it is hard to understand what you say:

One of the reasons we use lower resolution images is down to cost. It's an intentional design decision in the layout of the page. They are easier for me to work with

What has the layout of the page to do with higher resolution pictures ?
You can always link to a automagicaly generated webpage providing higher resolution pictures from the stuff you sell. I mean even the folks at ebay provide lots of pictures of the stuff they sell.

For me providing pictures of what you sell (and not those copied from the manufacturer homepage) are the equivalent to touching stuff when you buy it physical in a store, e.g. when I buy a PC at my local electronic store.

There is a lot more going on behind the scenes than I think anyone realizes. I'm just going to leave it at that.
