Unlinking Shortcut in Bottom Main Bar

I put a couple of shortcuts on the bottom bar of the desktop, but can't seem to find the remove option. I have also tried dragging off and into trash.
Is this a current bug?

hold down alt and left click on the icon you want to remove
you can then move or delete the icon
i think this should be made clearer to users as it took me quite a while to figure that out and i am sure i cant be the only one.

It is still a little buggy, I had to try several times for it to register to put up the option to remove. But I was able to get it done. Thank you.

If Trisquel was using something like MATE, this wouldn't be an issue. :-)

We should seriously switch to MATE next release.
