Hallo guys, sorry but I've done something without knowing how and how to reverse it... This keyboard here keeps popping up and I have no idea how to remove it.
I've tried to attach a screenshot but it didn't work.. it's a pop up keyboard with many different colours, no idea what it is good for. I realized now how I switched it on but still dunno what it's good for and how to remove it from the bottom bar of my desktop. It's activated in accessories - onboard.
You have enabled the screen keyboard. Since I have my Trisquel installed with
german settings I can not really tell you how to de-activate it.
Inside the system configuration there is a symbol shown: A blue circle with
some white men in it. In german it is called "Barrierefreiheit" which is
meant for disabled peoples. When you click on it there is a tab for
configuration of text input where you can enable / disable the screen
keyboard. I guess you have enabled it via a hotkey.
May be someone with an english version of Trisquel can step in and name the
english titles for this configuration part ?
I turned the keyboard on and off using the Universal Access setting to
test if it was the same thing you are referring to. But now I have
another problem: after I disabled it, the keyboard is still being
displayed when I lock the screen.
I couldn't find a GUI to fix that, but you can disable it with the
following command:
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.screensaver embedded-keyboard-enabled
false

Thanks everybody. I just uninstalled the onboard with synaptics to make it disappear. Don't understand what it is intended for?!

I think it's for people who can't use the keyboard properly. Like, malformed
hands, things like that. When the keyboard pops up on screen they can use the
mouse to type.
I know a guy who has made such a mess out of his table once, that the
keyboard was buried somewhere way back, without any possibility of pulling it
out and using it properly. He needed the on screen keyboard for doing
anything else than clicking on icons on the desktop :P

and his head. Those folks often use a joystick-like device to control the
mouse pointer and might type that way. Of course the other use case would be
a tablet PC without keyboard. For such a PC a screen keyboard will come in
handy as well.
