Added a panel to the desktop, placed it to the left, non-expandable and auto-hide; when added a second panel, expandable and auto-hide, also aligned to the left, the panels overlapped and Trisquel just froze still. Had to press the power button to shutdown, and when i booted the system again the problem remained - nothing could be done because the conflicting panels were using up all the system's resources. Had to boot in recovery mode and delete/rename folders "panel_1" and "panel_2" in /home/user/.gconf/apps/panel/toplevels/
5.0 is now EOL. I tried these instructions in 6.0 (using GNOME 3.4) and it did not freeze. The first hidden panel did not show up when I overlapped the second panel over it. Is this the behaviour you are expecting?
