Openchrome driver crashes since upgrade from 4.5 when playing videos with Totem or VLC. I see there is a new version of xserver-xorg-video-openchrome on http://www.openchrome.org/releases/ . How can I make a package for Trisquel? Will it be included in the repos if I contribute that driver?

I'm having similar issues with Openchrome on Parabola so I'm not sure updating the driver will fix it (I installed Parabola a few days ago). When I add a custom screen resolution I can no longer play Windows Media streams via the Totem plugin. The Totem plugin also does not work on YouTube at all, regardless of screen resolution (and in fact playing the file via Totem fails as well). I managed to get Linterna Magica to work with YouTube by using Gecko Media Player.

EDIT: I popped in a live CD of Trisquel 5 and when I tried playing a Youtube video via Linterna Magica it simply logged me out. Anyway after searching online I found an easy fix. You just need to get a newer version of the openchrome driver packaged for a newer version of Ubuntu, e.g. svn920 from here:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
Of course this doesn't yet explain how to overcome the issue with Parabola, but it's a start :)

As aloniv it appears newer versions of the package fix the issue.

See Ubuntu Bug #760743 which I believe is the same problem you are having.

The latest version of Trisquel (5.5) should have the package containing this fix for this problem. Could someone please test this on 5.5 and let us know if the problem is fixed. If so I will close this bug.

The openChrome driver works fine when using Trisquel mini 5.5 live USB flash drive. VLC and SMPlayer have no trouble playing video. Totem plays video fine but doesn't play audio.

I am going to mark this as fixed then. I don't know about the audio for Totem but that would probably be a different issue because openchrome is a display driver so it wouldn't have to do with the sound I wouldn't think.
