Serious Synaptic package manager bug

Description

Mark all upgrades button wipes all removal markings!

Quite unexpected and very nasty.

(I has just upgraded to Taranis and noticed to my dismay the upgrade had dragged in all kind of useless packages and so I had gone through all my installed packages and selected for removal the ones I don't need. And after that, I noticed the mark all upgrades button was lit, so I thought there must be some updates as well available and I hit the button.

The result was that not only no package was marked for update, looks like the button is always lit regardless whether there are any updates or not but also my meticulously selected packages for removal were unmarked. Boy was I angry and frustrated.)

This issue also takes place in Ubuntu 10.04

but also my meticulously selected packages for removal were unmarked.

Not sure but perhaps this is the usual behavior of Synaptics?
