Hello fellow travelers. Novice question:

1. How do I find my computer specs in Trisquel?

When I know that I can ask the followup help:

2. My older Dell laptop was working great for a few weeks with Trisquel after install. But a few days ago it slowwwed....waaaay.... dowwwwwn....

Now it takes minutes to boot to password, then open to desktop, then open a word doc etc.

Notes:

- I think the fans need cleaning as it gets somewhat hot.

- I encrypted the install.

3. I wonder if I should install Trisqeul Mini instead. But can Trisquel Mini run Libre Office,, Abrowser, and Evolution mail? I really like them.

Thanks for help on part 1.

1. The commands lspci and lsusb will give you some info, ditto files /proc/cpuinfo and /proc/meminfo

There are packages which are for listing hardware, like hwinfo.

3. Yes it can.

I like very much hwinfo, very detailed.
You can install all the free sotware you want just as on the gnome flashback triskello..
But don't install heavy (on resources) applications because if you do it will get slow just as in gnome.

this could be caused by things like a failing HDD so if you have a spare HDD laying around you could try to swap it out and see if it makes a difference

but installing trisquel mini is most likley a good idea
also if you have less than 2GB of RAM upgrading your RAM may also help

The disks can be tested for defects and performance issues from the eponymous utility in the "System settings" (click the button in the upper-right corner of the window). On Trisquel, the "gnome-disks" is not installed by default though.

'sudo lshw' gives a lot of hardware information (usually too much).

The different editions of Trisquel share a same package repository, which can be installed on any of them.
