Draw on screen, software alternatives

Hi everyone!, i've been trying to do free drawing on screen desktop to help me out on virtual classes.

I tried "ardesia" but can't see any line or trace drawn on screen just a blury square. I also tried "gromit-mpx", but I can't see any line drawn, then tried the "annotate compiz plugin" and also happens the same.

Has it something to do with the window manager?, i use mate with marco window manager. Is there another software that works on it? or do you know a workaround.
