 ० upgrade kernel to 3.5 and later
 ० upgrade memory to 4GB and more
 ० upgrade drive to a higher capacity SSD (128GB recommended)
 ० buy an external drive for data backup (get the one with the best price/capacity ratio)
 ० buy an external bluetooth USB dongle (if needed)
 ० flash a custom BIOS (to remove the "OS verification" screen, and add SeaBIOS support)
 ० if you are going to use it at home, an external keyboard, mouse, and a monitor/TV is recommended

Solutions

To upgrade the Linux kernel from version 3.2 to 3.5, enter the following commands in Terminal

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-belenos
sudo apt-get remove linux-image-3.2

To revert made changes, use this

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic
sudo apt-get remove linux-image-3.5
