links in thunderbird don't open abrowser

Description

links in thunderbird don't open abrowser. also opening attachments requires downloading them then opening them from a terminal or the file manager.

Trisquel 8.0 support ended in April 2021.
Please open a new issue in case it remains on the current supported release.
