AVI's not playing

Totem and VLC both do not play AVI files correctly. Audio plays okay, but no video comes out. I am on 4.0.1 and had the same issue in a past version.

Issue was due to insufficient Video Memory. Lowering the resolution resolved the issue. I had it setup to dual monitor to from the laptop and the external monitor at the highest resolution each. Lowering the resolution each to 1024x768 allowed the video to be displayed. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5610Z.
