grub2 shows debian splash image

When configuring GRUB2 through /etc/defaults/grub to show the splash image with kernel options, the background shown is the one from debian "squeeze"
(the small rocket in space, trailing the debian spiral).

This is a netboot installation, which included xfce and fluxbox, among others
window managers (neither Gnome nor KDE).
