[GFSD Issue] Source package psutils contains a non-free file

Project:Trisquel
Version:6.0
Component:License problems
Category:bug report
Priority:critical
Assigned:upstream
Status:closed
Description

Summary: Source package psutils contains non-free files that are of unclear copyright and origin.

Versions Used:

Steps to reproduce:

  • Download the source code for package: Here
  • Unpack/untar the source code and navigate to: /psutils-1.17.orig/LICENSE
  • License file states:

The included files, md68_0.ps and md71_0.ps (and their uuencoded forms) are (to the best of my knowledge) copyright Apple Computer, Inc.
A gNewSense Bug also states this about the problem:
Technical, those files are used by fixmacps(1), which "fixes" PostScript generated from a Macintosh PC that it works correctly with psutils package (according to manpage).
The fix would be, to remove fixmacps and the postcript files md68_0.ps and md71_0.ps from the package.
