Every piece of hardware falls into one of three categories:
a) freedom-respecting
b) freedom-compatible
c) proprietary
a) freedom-respecting hardware
Freedom-respecting hardware works with free software, and does not require proprietary software. This applies to drivers (and?).
Example: MIPS processors
b) freedom-compatible hardware
Freedom-compatible hardware works with free software.
Example: x86 processors are merely freedom-compatible.
c) proprietary hardware
Proprietary hardware will only work with proprietary software.
Example: ___ video card
