Revision of disable-orca-screen-reader-startup-without-uninstall-it from Sun, 09/13/2015 - 20:56

The revisions let you track differences between multiple versions of a post.

Using orca 3.12 (found in Trisquel 7), you can follow the instructions below, or use Alt+Super+S to toggle the state of screen reader. The setting of this toggle is persistent. When in the login greeter, use Ctrl+S to toggle orca.

1.Go to System Settings
2.Select Universal Access
3.Turn off Screen Reader

and problem solved, when you restart Trisquel, Orca does not start automatically.

Note for [Trisquel 6 -- Gnome 2]: to prevent Orca from launching at LOGIN screen (and possibly resetting keyboard layout..), also type in a shell:

cd /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow
sudo mv orca-screen-reader.desktop orca-screen-reader.desktop.bkp
