While there are some Thinkpad models, on which both Trisquel *and* libreboot will fork fine, there are also models on which integrated Wifi/bluetooth/graphic accelerator wants non-free firmware. On these models it's still possible to run Trisquel.
Many Thinkpad models have integrated non-free WiFi and/or Bluetooth, which aren't supported. However: it's possible to work around this problem by replacing it or using external WiFi/bluetooth adapters. See h-node for supported WiFi adapters.
Some models have ATI/Radeon GPU, meaning no 3D acceleration and no LibreBoot. Trisquel should still work on these models 3D acceleration disabled.
Older models
Some older IBM models have non-PAE processor and require a modified kernel to start. To install Trisquel on these models, first install Trisquel Taranis, then install a non-PAE kernel and upgrade to your favorite version of Trisquel.
jxself kindly provides kernels for non-PAE systems at https://jxself.org/linux-libre/
