how to create a wifi hotspot on trisquel 12?
A trisquel 12 computer is setup such that all its internet traffic goes over tor. I want to connect an usb atheros ar9271 wifi card to the trisquel 12 computer and have the usb ar9271 wifi card act as a wifi hotspot such that any device which connects to the usb ar9271 wifi card gets to use the trisquel 12 computer's tor internet connection. How can that be done? Thank you.
Stuck on "loading screen" after OS intallation
Laptop stuck at "loading screen" succeded the Libreboot boot menu, after a fresh Trisquel install.
Curiously I was able to install Trisquel Mini (basic install without internet), and boot into it without issues.
I tried with Debian as well, with exact same problem as Trisquel.
I thought maybe the problem could be:
- The type of USB I'am using
- A corrupted iso download possibly resulting from slow/bad internet connection
- Some type of corruption during the installation process resulting from slow/bad internet.
I have tried downloading a couple of times, straight and with torrent. And tried some different USB variations.
I just thought I'd ask here if anyone had experiences with such an issue where the installation seems to complete, but is stuck after bootloader screen upon reboot.
/etc/backups/run.sh does not find borg /home/user/.guix-profile/bin/borg
I am trying to set up automated backups with borg[1], however, I have an issue: `/etc/backups/run.sh` invokes borg but can't find borg:
$ grep -n ^borg /etc/backups/run.sh
68:borg --version
73:borg create $BORG_OPTS \
84:borg create $BORG_OPTS \
$ journalctl -fu automatic-backup | grep borg
Apr 04 19:36:15 x220 run.sh[15968]: /etc/backups/run.sh: line 68: borg: command not found
I installed borg using guix; `$ guix install borg`.
$ type borg
borg is hashed (/home/user/.guix-profile/bin/borg)
I have no issue invoking borg from the cli.
$ borg --version
.borg-real 1.4.3
or `borg list` or `borg create`.
and I can see `/home/user/.guix-profile/bin/` on `PATH`:
$ echo $PATH
/home/user/.local/bin:/home/user/bin:/home/user/.guix-profile/bin:/home/user/.config/guix/current/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/snap/bin
What else can I check to figure out why `/etc/backups/run.sh` can't find borg?

Is the RTL8188CUS chipset free or not?
Hello, everyone.
Please tell me, is the RTL8188CUS chip free or not?
I can't understand the logic of the website https://h-node.org
For example, the EW-7811Un Wi-Fi adapter https://h-node.org/wifi/view/en/604/Edimax-Technology-Co--Ltd-EW-7811Un-802-11n-Wireless-Adapter--Realtek-RTL8188CUS-/ if you look at the description,
it says:
“Its Realtek RTL8188CUS chipset requires non-free firmware.”
But at the same time, it says:
“Does it work with free software?” “Yes”
I also don't understand the logic of whoever created this site—why are chips or other devices listed here that don't support free software?
This confuses the user; they come here to find a device that works with free software and then buy it, but they see the message
does it work with free software? NO
Why are all these devices on this site?
