Ctrl-Alt-t doesn't open terminal

Even the keyboard shortcut of ctrl-alt-t is set to open (a/the) terminal, it doesn't work. I am quite sure is has been working before and I have no idea of what should have made it not work.
Any suggestions of what has happened and especially of how to solve this?
Maybe check the keyboard shortcuts config.
Indeed: in the "Shortcuts" tab of "Keyboard" (in the "System Settings"), "Launch terminal", in the "Launchers" category, should be binded to Ctrl+Alt+T. If it is not, click on it and then on Ctrl+Alt+T.
Thanks.
That is what I meant by
the keyboard shortcut of ctrl-alt-t is set to open (a/the) terminal
The bindings are set but it still doesn't work.
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with your changing the keyboard configuration. Remember, you used CLI tool dpkg-reconfigure to change your keyboard to Apple laptop.

Your keybindings have changed. Try some other combination, like cmd+option+t. Or set a new binding with the current configuration.
Hi loldier,
I overlooked this one, sorry. Thanks for your response. The machine I had this issue with was not the MacBook but a T400s running Cinnamon DE. I am now using xfce an have solved the issue.
Thanks gain
