How to get the desktop GUI after installing Trisquel Mini?

So I replaced my room mate's 7 or 8 year old laptop's OS which is Vista Basic with Trisquel Mini. Now, I only get a minimal OS, which is not what my room mate wants of course. So how should I get the GUI? Already did an update and upgrade, still no startx.
Trisquel Mini includes LXDE, so maybe you did the netinstall instead? Anyway, you can install the package trisquel-mini
.
trisquel-mini
only provides a barebone desktop environment. Add trisquel-mini-recommended
and you get the full Trisquel Mini experience.
With the GUI stuff?
Ugh, they should have told that before people download Mini. If they did, that's great!
As Legimet told you (and unless you have a real problem), you have installed the NetInstall edition, not the Trisquel Mini edition. Trisquel Mini has the packages "trisquel-mini" and "trisquel-mini-recommended" installed by default.
If the GUI still doesn't come up one thing you could try is https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installing-latest-backported-kernel-and-xserver
When installing trisquel via the netinstall iso you can choose install or not a GUI system as part of the installation process
https://trisquel.info/files/Trisquel%20Server%2028_0.png
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/install-trisquel-server
There you can install a variety of preselected groups of programs, incluiding different desktop environments. This is done by tasksel
https://wiki.debian.org/tasksel
In a command line system, to run tasksel
$ sudo tasksel
And you will be able to choose 'Trisquel mini environment' or whatever you prefer.
