Ciao,
I try to test the live cd (dvd) ver 6.0 64-bit, but the system asks me for a username and password.
I've already read some topics with the same problem and have tried the suggestions (sudo adduser trisquel , trisquel and no password....etc) without success.
Is there a bug in the iso?

Luca.

That is weird: two days ago, I downloaded, burned and ran the CD ISO of Trisquel 6.0 64 bits. It directly logged into the desktop session.

Would you try the CD ISO? If you have an Internet connection, getting additional packages (such as those on the DVD) is a piece of cake. You can use "Add/Remove Applications" + the "Language Support" in the "System settings" if you need the support of a language other than English.

It sounds like you are able to log into the desktop, but not to become root once you're logged in?

Edit: Accidentally replied to wrong person.

Do you have a AMD/ATI video card? Here's my experience with it and another similar story. Perhaps you already saw these

This just happened to me too, on the computer I hoped to use as a server.

Username "trisquel" and no-password seems like it's working, but never really logs in. It just hangs loading.

I have a backup pc (non AMD/ATI) that I can use. Hopefully somoene has solution that will work for Luca.

I have a mother board Asus A8N - SLI SE Phoenix Award bios, 2 Gb ram ddr 400, AMD Athlon (tm) 64 Processor 3200 + and an video card ATI Radeon X1300 Series. I tried to use the live cd 64-bit and 32-bit, but the results are always the same:

I enter user trisquel and not insert the password, the system responds with "added user trisquel." and the pointer turns, turns, turns .... and I wait, wait, wait.

Then when I got bored, I turn off the PC.
On the same machine are installed, on two different hard disks, Ubuntu 10.4 LTS and Mac os x 10.5 Leopard (hackintosh) without any problem.
It may be because of the AMD processor and ATI video card?

That's interesting. My computer has the athlon 64 4600+ processor but with a nvidia graphics card and I get the exact same problem with only the gnome edition of trisquel - I cannot get past the log-in screen on the live cd and if I install it then the screen goes black for a split second before returning to the login screen.

Is there a Trisquel KDE version, or LXDE only ?
I think I understand that LXDE is a mini version.
Is it true?
Otherwise can you tell me where download a KDE edition?
Thanks, Luca.

Maybe here?

;)

But in this way I can't try a live cd.

Meanwhile...
I tried Trisquel 32-bit on another pc with a smaller processor, but I get the same result.
It is a curse, or I'll never be able to see Trisquel running on my pc? :(

Have anyone of you tried by setting "nomodeset" option on "F6-other options" before starting to try the live CD.

I'm writting this on a PC with GeForce GT 440 blah blah, it has always logged in without username and password.

Great! This is the solution (at least for the live CD). I have not installed the OS yet, but I think there should be no problems.
Thanks for the suggestion, antiesnob!

That will only work on the live CD. So, once you installed Trisquel you'll surely need to set the "nomodeset" again but this time it'll be in a different way.
In the next link you can find a guide of howto do that and some info.

Good luck!!!

A good news: when trisquel is installed, no boot options are needed.
It starts without nomodeset.
