abrowser and addons

I have a question on Abrowser. Perhaps someone could help me with that. I tried to install some addons like "ublock origin" and "https everywhere", but that just did not work. Do I have to do something to enable the installation of addons, or is it just not possible?

Now for something not related to this question, but a big compliment to the dev(s). I just installed Trisquel 8.0, and to be honest, I expected many issues with either hardware support and software. But everything works out of the box on my laptop. All the software I usually use is in there, or can be found in the repository. And the performance is just absolutely great! I'm glad Mate made it as the default window manager. This is great work by the dev(s). It feels clean, fast and stable.

Abrowser's "Add-ons Manager" does not work, but if you go to

https://trisquel.info/en/browser

you'll get the behavior you expect from the Add-ons Manager.

A page like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ has its "+ Add to Firefox" button disabled. I believe that quidam sets an older and more common user agent to mitigate fingerprinting and that it makes Mozilla's site identify the version of the browser as incompatible with the addon. Nevertheless, it is quite easy to install the addon anyway: right-click on the button "+ Add to Firefox" to then copy the link and paste it in the address bar.

Warning: https://addons.mozilla.org does not even properly label the addons as free or proprietary! https://trisquel.info/en/browser/ only lists free addons. Unfortunately, not every free addon you can find on Mozilla's site.

Oh I already found it. apparently you have to download the addon manually, and then manually install it.

edit: oops, I replied to my own post before I saw the replies.

Thanks for the above replies!

Should give you a working addon manager page. It works on my Trisquel 8 box. Type in Ublock Origin in the search field and it should find the addon. Then scroll down and click on install.

##EDIT##

The forum is slow to refresh. I have replied sending what looks like duplicates now. I could swear there was not a single reply when I sent my first post.

The UX of add-ons in ABrowser really needs some TLC. This has come up in a number of threads recently, including this one:

I made some suggestions in a previous thread but it hasn't yet attracted any comments:
