Hi !
Has anyone removed android and installed Trisquel(or similar) on any
device ?
Thanks-Patrick
Short answer:No.
Long answer: VERY unlikely. If you've got an x86 tablet/phone (and if Android and all its available apps run well on it that basically means it isn't x86) you might be lucky, but then it's very difficult (i.e. to boot from the bootloader to Trisquel's installer) and chances are after all the hardwork things like Wi-Fi will fail.
I said x86 because that's what Trisquel is designed to run on. Note that x86 (or its 64-bit counterpart x86-64, which as far as Iknow also pretty much means AMD64) is the architecture used by pretty much all "proper" PCs, like those that come with Windows on them, for example.
Why don't you try Trisquel on your PC (that inclues laptops as well) instead?

Hi Dave
I have run Trisquel and been happy with it. I don't mean to pull the
list off topic but Trisquel's community is also a great thing and a good
place to look for honest advice.
I posted to the replicant list yesterday but didn't hear back and from
what I can tell the project does not seem to be in good shape.
I am trying to design and assistive speech device. Everywhere I look
there are android based devices that would be perfect, the thing is I
don't want to be affiliated with Android and Google right now.
Are there any tablets that are fairly low priced and will run Trisquel?
or worst case Ubuntu ?
I guess a tablet PC (i.e. the likes of the Compaq TC1000) could do. Or the post below.
I've ported Linux-Libre to the Sunxi platform and I am waiting for the Vivaldi Tablet which is designed to Free as in freedom. See https://makeplaylive.com/#/who-we-are/our-commitments
I have a touchscreen laptop and I do not think Trisquel runs very well with touch screen.
For example, scrolling is very hard, you have to rub on the side of the window, and you usually end up resizing the window, or selecting text on the screen
But if anyone knows how to make it better please do tell me
As far as scrolling goes, other than using the keyboard, I know that there's a Firefox extension that adds support for gestures to scroll pages. Some other programs have similar features.
Also, make sure you use GNOME Shell, not the default Fallback desktop. GNOME Shell has a lot of features that are useful for touchscreens.
With a (well, my) touchpad scrolling can be done by dragging 2 fingers on the touchpad according to where you want to scroll to.
Perhaps that works for touchscreen as well, or can be made to work with touchscreen as well?
The only experience I've had with touchscreens are the ones where the touching process is done with a stylus, though.
