Hello trsiquel community,

I have a serious problem on my laptop since autumn '14.

With my member's fsf trisquel 6.0 install USB card I created 2 more
partitions of the normal factory's HD diagram: 1) I have installed
trisquel (as I can remember) on one created partition. 2) I copied via a
dd command fsf trisquel 6.0 install partition to the second partition
created. I re-booted after my coping and couldn't access to bios with
start-up key combinaison (alt pressed while start).

There is also somebody-else's data That I have give back.

My screen is grey, no os boots and I can't boot on USB part.

Can you, please, help me ?

Hardware intervention is expensive (at least $200 that I not really
got), is there a solution for my case ?

Can you boot a live session (with a USB flash drive, for example, or the USB card)?

I'm guessing the problem is not with the BIOS but rather with the contents of the HDD.

P.S. What do you mean by saying that you can't boot on "USB part"?

This is the key problem: even startup key pressed (alt), when power-on
to show hard-disks or usb flash to boot on, hasn't any effect. bios is
like to be erased.

What happens if you yank out the hdd and then turn on? Can you get to bios? If yes, make usb first to boot and then reinsert hdd and usb.

I'm not really good in hardware intervention: I'm afraid to break
motherboard's maps. There is a ifixit tutorial that I have to check
again and I have a multi screw so I can do this.
