Can't access my folders

Hi all
While updating Trisquel, I got a message that means the structure of the system will change, what I remember that the package was to speed the RAM, and I should keep the old package, but I chose to continue with installing the new package. The system became faster, but I can't access any folder but the Home folder. For example I can't log to the (user) folder, because "no such folder exists".! I tried "xfs_repair-n", but it couldn't determine the size of the desk.
Now, how to re-install Trisquel, or fix this problem?
I'm afraid I didn't understand any of that but you can try to access your files by booting from a live Trisquel media (CD/DVD/USB). That's how you can reinstall as well.
You need to mount the HDD to access it. (Don't get confused by the home folder which points to the home folder of the live media.)
"package to speed the ram" - i think he is referring to "preload", the adaptive readahead daemon..Used for some time when I was on Ubuntu - it does speed up the access of the most used apps but it slows down the bootup process which took double time for me when I was using it
I believe you got it right SuperTramp. Thanks Lembas for the advice. I installed Trisquel on virtualbox, and will reinstall it again, on a new machine, and start all over again.
