I guess most of you would have noticed the many recent posts by Casey Parker. Like me, you might have wondered whether he really is "passionate about freedom, privacy, and open-source software" (as written on https://trisquel.info/fr/users/casey-parker) or if he is only here to troll. I will save you the search.

If you read the latest posts on this account, you quickly come across links to articles on a blogspot blog that is his (and someone else's given the subtitle: "Justin and Casey are Nerds"): http://thenerdishpodcast.blogspot.com.br
In particular, the last referenced article is http://thenerdishpodcast.blogspot.com.br/2015/01/windows-10-preview-update.html (written less than a month ago). All images are Windows 10 screenshots. The first one has a big "Casey, hello!" on it. The article ends like that:

His/her posts are full of shit. His tone is that of a 5 year old child who thinks that he is the most intelligent and important being on the planet. I don't care if this person is contributing to free software or not. I would like for him/her to disappear from this community. Period.

and yes magic, I was also a wondering a bit whether or not Casey was really a 'true free software passionate'.
Anyway, I know my standpoint, I got bored and scrolled past his threads and the replies...
But I do think it is good that there actually are some discussions instead of everyone whining the same song!
If those purism PC's are going to be a success, I think you can say hello to lots of people who has a misconception about what free-software is!

I reported what I found in a 5-minute search on the Web. Nothing NSA-like: only Casey's public writings. I believed that would be of interest to other users (like you apparently) who would like to answer the troll or no-troll question.
My personal conclusion (you can disagree) is "troll": Casey's posts on this forum are not about "discussion" or "misconception about what free-software is" but about "sowing discord by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29 ). Such a behavior does not belong to the Trisquel community (and, indeed, he is a Windows 10 user, "strongly recommending" it to anybody).
I do not propose to kick anybody out if, by that, you mean "ban from the forum". In my humble opinion, it is totally inefficient. I replied to him once, he again wrote another long post but didn't refer to any of my points, just stated completely random non-sense;
so i simply decided not to respond anymore.
I don't agree with him and his way of discussion makes me quit the conversation - just like it's the case for millions of other persons on the internet. So what?
We shouldn't give them any attention in my view, just correct their statements.
I apologize sincerely for not raising free software to the level of a God to be worshipped. I was under the impression it was an idealistic software development strategy that lends a whole lot of value to the world - didn't know it was all about outright zealotry. Have fun with that.
Yeah you think of free software as a "nice option"; but it's not.

I'm not too enthused about Purism, now. I'll stick with ThinkPenguin- Chris is a pretty cool guy.
If Casey doesn't care much about software freedom, isn't it possible that Purism'll give in? (I'm not sure about how much of a role Casey plays with Prism, so this may be incorrect.)

Just because Casey works with Purism doesn't mean Purism is like Casey, or that Purism cares as little about freedom as Casey. (It would be different if Casey were in charge of Purism, but it doesn't look like he is.)

Following his participation and response on others forums, I could follow a pattern on his writing style. Very persuasive, deceiving and instigator on the crowd with his expressive ideas.
