So I just fount out that compiz's burning windows animation is gone :'(

Installing compiz-plugins-extra doesn't work anymore.

I'm so sad. I wonder if contributing to the project may help, I heard that it is being abandon for quite some time, I just didn't know.

Does anybody could tell me your opinion? Is there still some hope for compiz or should I let it die?

I would abandon compiz, but at least it has the wobbly windows and the cube desktop. I just don't understand why was this project left to die by the users :'( myself, I just didn't know until now.

Also if someone has an article of why and when did this started I loved to read it. Thank you.

It's been removed (since Compiz 0.9.8, I think, along with other plugins, to accomodate for OpenGL or something like that, see https://launchpad.net/compiz/0.9.8/0.9.8.0 ). So the only solution is to go back to Trisquel 6....

Or maybe, just maybe, taking Compiz 0.8 from one of Debian 7's testing-period snapshots like shown in http://www.tim.vangehugten.org/installing-compiz-on-debian-wheezy/ will work.

And no, it isn't dying.
