Distribution Upgrade window self-minimizes after I disable screen lock

After cleaning up Trisquel-10 (nabia) in my Lenovo Thinkpad T420, I let the Software Updater start the dstribution upgrade to Trisquel-11 (aramo). After a short period of downloading files, a popup appeared that demanded that I disable screen lock (found in Control Center in the Screen Saver dialog), whereupon the progress window minimized itself and now can only be seen as "Distribution Upgrade (as superuser)" in the Panel workspace. Is this a feature or a bug ?
After an anxious period, a few popups appeared that requested decisions on my part; a final popup requested that I restart the system to complete the upgrade. Upon a quick look-around, I see that the app's that I had recently installed were present, which is a great relief. No foul, no harm. This was a much quicker experience than I had after applying do-release-upgrade -d
which went on with much screen activity for several hours. My perseverance in clearing up fstab paid off, as the upgrade finished without further incident.
