Easy libre animation app

I have read a very nice short movie script. We don't have the money to
do a film - the crew, actors, hardware everything will be out of our
league. But the script is lovely. So I thought to myself why not do an
animation based on that script and release the resulting story so that
the World can enjoy it too. It will be all about sharing. Yet, we are
only two and our knowlege in production of animation is up to the
average South Park fan.
What do you know about this subject? Anything can help. Ideal would be
libre software on top of Trisquel.
What else can you share with us? Forums. Mailing lists. Online tutorials.
Cheers!
Pencil is an easy Free Software animation program.

Synfig studio?
Blender?
Gimp? (Gimp is capable of handling animations)
Guys. I asked about an easy libre animation. Somehow it has translated
into "who can use google?"
Well If you don't like the replies, then don't ask insipid questions then.
I've been searching for animation software myself some time ago, and the best I've found was Synfig. You will find it in Trisquel repo.
sudo apt-get install synfigstudio
or via Synaptic.
I didn't have much time to dive into it (plus I'm not an animator) but while the software doesn't seem to be necessarily simple, it also doesn't seem too complicated. They have some helpful materials on the site, incl. a pay $1+ 'video training course'. I think that with a few days spent on learning you could be cracking through it without much problems :) I noticed some tutorials on *cough* youtube as well.
Hope that helps.
There's one more I've found in Trisquel repo. It's called Tupi2D.
sudo apt-get install tupi
