Are here any servers running Free software licensed XMPP servers?

Okay I have found that ejabberd is GPLv2 licensed here https://www.ejabberd.im/ .

Lots. There's a directory of XMPP servers here:

https://xmpp.net/directory.php

FSF members also get an XMPP account from there, IIRC.
