GNU Icecat and HTML5 on youtube

I recently installed the GNU Icecat browser because it seems to be more compatible with HTML5 video. After a few hours though it stoped working: when I click on a video now I get a black screen and the message "an error occured, please try again later". I used to have the same problem when using the regular Firefox and Adoble Flash - I think it had to do with the cookies. So is there something I can do to manipulate cookies in GNU Icecat so that this won't occur?
Deleting them from preferences privacy didn't do the trick...

block the cookies from youtube. It's a known issue, from time to time you have to block them. If you have a youtube account, you'll have to reenable them in order to login the next time. That problem comes and goes, and to watch videos again you have to just block the cookies from youtube.
I have no idea how blocking cookies from one particular site works on GNU Icecat. I cannot find any option that would allow you to do that in the Edit - Preferences menu...

Preferences
Privacy
there tick "accept cookies from sites" then click the "exceptions" button next to it
then enter the url http://www.youtube.com and click block...

Preferences -> Privacy -> Remove individual cookies.
Then you delete all the YouTube ones, and after that you should be able
to play the videos on YouTube easily with Gnash ;)

Sorry, i forgot to add how to block the cookies.
Once you get to www.youtube.com then make a right click on the page.
On the menu displayed choose, View Page Info, then on Permissions
uncheck the Set Cookies "Use Default", and set it to "Block".
Then you can enjoy YouTube with Gnash once and twice and the times you
want
Note: Be advice that this will disable the features like keeping you
session opened, list of videos watched by certain profile, etc.

Someone sent me an email asking how to install GNU IceCat. Strangely you cannot do it when clicking on add/remove software. I installed it by opening a terminal and typing sudo apt-get install icecat, then sudo apt-get update
not sure if this was the correct way to do it but it worked for me...
It is a correct way. Another one, if you prefer a GUI, is to use the Synaptic package manager (accessible from the System/Administration menu).
Actually are you using the 5.0 alpha? It actually shouldn't work with the command. Versions 4.5 and below don't have icecat in them (unless you add an external PPA).
You would have to have your friend add the ppa for icecat if he isn't using the 5.0 alpha.

I've been using the external PPA for icecat. Are there some advantages if I install it from the Trisquel repos?
Well, I believe the update of the available packages should be faster after the removal of a PPA. That there is also the risk that a PPA starts proposing proprietary software... although, in the case of IceCat's PPA, that would mean the hell has frozen.
Finally, and this time it is specific to IceCat's PPA, the package in Trisquel's repository depends on another one, xul-ext-ubufox, whose title is "Trisquel-specific configuration defaults and apt support for IceCat'. Here is its description:
Adds Trisquel-specific modifications to IceCat.

Integrates the browser with Trisquel to:
* Enable searching for missing plugins from Trisquel software catalog
* Set homepage to Trisquel Start Page
* Display a restart notification after upgrading IceCat
* Add Duck Duck GO! to the search engines.
