Hello. How have you been?
I absolutely want to change the order of the right click menu.
How can I do that? Have a good day.

There is no other way than modifying the concerned program and reinstalling it.

Does that mean I have to compile? Compiling is one of the things I absolutely do not want to do. Only my boss can force me to do compiling. Otherwise, I never do it. Never, ever.

It seems that by installing Nautilus-Action, you can edit the right-click menu rather easily.

https://www.howtogeek.com/116807/how-to-easily-add-custom-right-click-options-to-ubuntus-file-manager/

But the terminal returned this.

”The package nautilus-actions is not available, but it is referenced by another package.
This means that the package is missing, obsolete, or only available from another source.”

What does that mean by 'referenced by another package'?
I succeeded in installing nautilus from Trisqeul repository, and searched Synaptic but could not find nautilus-actions.

Which is the concerned program? and would you tell me how to modify it? Compiling?

So, you are talking about the contextual menu of the file manager. It was not clear in your first post. If you use Trisquel's MATE environment, the default, your file manager is Caja and the utility to configure Caja-Actions is installed by default. You can find it in MATE's Control Center for instance. I doubt it allows to reorder the entries, as in having "Properties" before "Create folder". And yes, modifying Caja itself would mean recompiling it afterwards. But that would not be the harder part. The harder part would be figuring out where to modify it.

I don't think so. But you may be right.

Yes I do. Because MATE was already installed on this lap-pep. ('3')< << <<<

It did not.

I have not said it is harder or easier. I just do not want to do compiling even if it was done by one-click. Since Caja-Action does not seem to provide the option, maybe I will obey the order.

You can change the context menu a bit if you use the Thunar file manager instead of Caja. 'sudo install thunar' should do it. Under the Edit menu, select "Configure Custom Actions". You can move around any custom actions you have or that you make on Thunar's context menu.

That's an attractive offer. But I do not really like the name Thunar. It reminds me of some unfortunate memory. Nautilus sounds not bad but I like the name Caja.
