I like that this forum is trying to help Trisquel users, this is its main purpose, and this is why I am here (to help and get help).

One person have been spaming a place to help users with a massive number of messages just about their own mood, not to ask for help or to help others, they have been told that this forum has a rule not to recommend non-free software, they have decided to ignore that rule and now call Trisquel users narcistic for wishing to stick to that rule.

Is that so difficult for some people to respect this place?

Hate is also against the rules, yet its clearly heavily on display.

I bet this is why onpon left trisquel forums and no longer posts.

A forum is like a nice garden. From time to time, trolls invade and trample around.

Then the trolls go away and the nice garden remains. This is why we should focus on gardening.

My perception is that Trisquel forums are going downhill. Combined with certain political maneuvering that's been going on it seems to me that the environment has shifted.

I think some people misunderstood my usage of the term "narcissism of small differences": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism_of_small_differences

It doesn't mean that people are actual narcissists (at least, no more so than anyone else).

It refers instead to the over-focus on minor differences between groups of people who are very similar. We are all susceptible to this. The prototypical example is that of ethnonationalist feuds, which you see all over the world.

You see it a lot in politics, for example the "circular firing squad" among leftists of different varieties.

I've seen it a lot in the vegan community, where people spend much of their time criticizing vegetarians, or even other vegans who are vegan for health/environmental reasons rather than animal rights.

And I see it in this community, where there is more negative attention directed at Leah and others who have minor disagreements with FSF philosophy, than at the actual proprietary software/hardware companies.

I understood your usage, my statement wasn't about your message.

You call it hate when people thumb you down, you posted so many provocative complains about this, and did not even ask why people thumbed you down. I thumbed you down when you promoted non-free software, and only then.

I agree.

> there is more negative attention directed at Leah and others who have minor disagreements with FSF philosophy
Debating disagreements on certain aspects of free software philosophy or promotion strategy is good, preferably in "General free software discussion". Of course, such debate should be about challenging opinions, not people.

That is the problem I believe though, negativity towards people doesn't solve anything. Which is what was happening.

I don't harbor hatred for anyone particularly, I don't like people abusing their power or people abusing the + and - button to push their own personal views.

Btw, there are better things to be negative towards then libreboot, canoeboot, coreboot or gnuboot.

And I still stand by what I said, if gnuboot is to survive and be useful, it should add some of the boards that canoeboot has.

I don't like getting in friction with anyone. I was disappointed by the amount of people who just randomly thumbed all of my comments down regardless of their purpose.

I truly do believe there was narcissism in that canoeboot thread coming from FSF supporters.

I never called people narcissists to my knowledge, but correct me if I am wrong.

All I remember is hinting at the fact people were acting narcissistic not that, they are necessarily.

I don't mind debating disagreements but there was literally a user calling Leah an oppressor, which I think is a pretty inflammatory description of someone who is helping users free their boot firmware as much as possible.

Are you referring to the user that posted a "Departure message"? That user previously mentioned suffering from schizophrenia and wrote a number of rather long monologues with exagerated words. So I did not take this message seriously. In spite of that, that user was never aggressive.

Oh... than I guess I should have backed off from her.

That makes sense though, kiki was acting irrational.

Sorry for not realizing she might be mentally ill.

I don't feel like its a good use of my time to argue with mentally ill people, at least not to schizophrenia levels.
