I'm using trisquel 4.5.1 . I want to use LAN connection provided by university . For that i have to configure ipv4 setting manually. How can i do that ? I have tried the edit connection option present in network manager. But the apply button remains disabled even after adding ipv4 settings manually. Can anyone help me?

Hi Niyasc, I might be able to help. I need some more information, I need to know what you are trying to do. For example, what settings are you using for the LAN?

Maybe you are not putting a required field. I use IP address, masq,
gateway and DNS.

University give us ip address , mask and gate way. Using this configuration today i was able to connect to net. But before using net we have to login using user name and password. When i tried to login one message appeared ' you are not allowed to login from this machine' . Is it a os related issue?

If you can connect at all to your university LAN then its unlikely to be an OS related problem. It sounds like an authentication issue or restriction. There's normally a few steps to connecting to these types of network:

1) Connect to physical LAN using settings supplied.
2) Enter password and user name to connect to the network.
3) The network authenticates your credentials and allows you join the network.

If you fail at the second step it usually means the network is preventing you from connecting. I suggest you contact your IT services department to find out why you're getting the error message.
