I’ve just now slightly looked for i7 Macbook Airs, i7 Mac Pros, i7 Lenovo Thinkpads (i7 cores can be replaced ones) that they’re made from 2005 to 2008 (anyway EFI required after Librebooting and Intel-ME removed), to be Librebootable as GNU+hardware.
I’ve asked the second-handed retailers that you’re free to supplement more SSD, for Macbook Airs you’re also free to replace with i7 cores against i5 ones.
I’ve also asked for more than 1.82 TiB of SSD for using Mac Pros as my servers and that’s also free to be done.

Note: My life has been in Hong Kong where’s almost absolutely free software unaware, but fortunately there are many second-handed retails for Macbooks in Hong Kong, written in traditional Chinese and spoken in Hong Kong Chinese.

The 945GM-based generation of MacBook may be supported by Libreboot. But the same generation ThinkPad T60/X60/Z61 is much better.

Any newer MacBook can be neglected. For example, some newer MacBooks use non-standard interfaces and it is very difficult to replace their hardware, especially WLAN adapters.

BTW, since you are in Hong Kong, then why not go to Shenzhen to purchase second-hand ThinkPads? See how many ThinkPad models are well supported by coreboot...
