i have recently installed libreboot on my x60 computer:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/installing-libreboot-x60-thinkpad

and i booted trisquel from a usb stick
but when i am running trisquel the cpu usage
is always at least 99% normally 100%

this makes my battery life only about 30 minits

and makes the machine much slower

i am tryed trisquel mini aswell and its still 99% - 100% cpu usage

the specs on the x60 are
cpu: single core 1.66ghz
2gb ddr2 667mhz ram
4gb usb stick(i dont have a HDD in it)

this is not a amazing computer but i hae another computer
that runs trisquel mini that is normally at 15% - 30% cpu usage
while running most programs with the specs
cpu:
1.7ghz single core
2gb ddr2 ram 667mhz

i would not imagen 0.4ghz would make that much diffrence

could there be any cause/soulution to this?

Open a terminal and run top, it will show you which process is eating your CPU.

it seems to be mostly system prosessors like init
so dose this mean that my computer is just too slow?

i wondered if libreboot had anything to do with it as
this was not happening before

systemd?

Trisquel 7 uses upstart. “dpkg -S /sbin/init” (no necessarily as root) will tell you the package from where the init executable comes.

weird top is saying my cpu usage is about 60% and
system monitor is saying 100%

maby its just system montior thats wrong

i will try running some other distros like gnewsense
to see if it improves

No, it says 64% is used by user processes that are not niced. The manual page is your friend.

I do admit that top is a complicated tool. I was hoping we would see one process hog a very large amount but no.

That's what I though and was somewhat surprised to see systemd in that top output. I'm still on Trisquel 6 and don't have any systemd processes running.

now I Will look for it
if I find it
I'll dont use trisquel forever

recommended replacement so you can chose if you want systemmd or not:

udev was merged into systemd in 2012, which is why you see "systemd-udevd". Trisquel 7 does not use systemd as the init system (but Trisquel 8 will)

Thanks for the info.

is there any way to just cap the cpu speed at say 60%?

this would limit the processor to about 1ghz
but at least it would get me a bit more battery
and 1ghz is fine for basic computer use

It should not use 100% of cpu all the time, something's gone wrong. You could try reading the logs in /var/log/ to see if there's any clue as to what's going on.

Perhaps try another kernel, e.g. from http://jxself.org/linux-libre/

or even another (free) distro as last resort.

Indeed. I suspect a malfunctioning device making udev constantly write lines in a log file. See what 'dmesg' (in a terminal) has to say.

In fact, your problem looks a lot like https://trisquel.info/forum/wifi-card-no-more-supported-trisquel-7 ... which has not been solved.
