Hi Everyone.

I installed LXDE Desktop Enviroment for less resources and checking faster environment.

However I installed lastest version of LXDE 0.99.2 from below guix repo

https://guix.gnu.org/packages/lxde-0.99.2/

it installed successfully and showing me in an installed packages like this

$ guix package --list-installed

So when I restart It starts from KDE Plasma not LXDE and not asking in startup screen in dropdown like mate/plasma just like that when we install side by side.

but right now I am using triskel so no dropdown at all.

Hope this is clarified anyone can help on this issue.

Thank you

You can install Trisquel Mini 10.0 and get LXDE 0.99.2 straight out of the box:

http://cdbuilds.trisquel.org

EDIT: you will also get LXDE 0.99.2 on your standard Trisquel 9 install if you do

sudo apt install lxde

Trisquel 10 isn't considered stable yet but it's probably good enough at this point. It's based on Ubuntu 20.04.

I still wonder why they abandoned LXDE for LXQT, due to the looks of LXQT, being kind of, like... ugly and also being more bloated.

I wonder if it has the feature set the old had yet.

Last I checked, there were a few things LXQT didn't do right, though the last vesion I used was 0.10 or something that was like barely a year newer...

But out of curiousity, has LXQT gotten any better since then?

Side note, Lumina Desktop has a better wallpaper since last time I looked, for a default.

That was a year ago, though.

Dunno if it improved since they forked Void Linux instead of continuing TrueOS.

That might have changed their support somewhat. Not sure yet though.

I still prefer LXDE and GTK2. And well, QT isn't lightweight or simple.

I tried LXQt recently and it seemed pretty good.

> to install LXQT desktop environment in trisquel 9

sudo apt install lxqt

To avoid any misunderstanding: LXDE is still maintained, and LXDE 0.99.2 is still the default DE for Trisquel Mini 10: https://www.lxde.org.
Ubuntu makes decisions regarding Lubuntu, and Trisquel makes decisions regarding Trisquel Mini, or so it seems.

Type alt+control+F2 to go to console, login and type: sudo apt purge lxqt. This will uninstall lxqt and remove the settings. Reboot and maybe your problem is solved.
