LXDE with Whisker menu?

I believe I once read that one of our esteemed members had succeeded in making the Whisker menu run under LXDE. If I am not wrong, this required to install the xfce panel package(s).
I also found this guy, who has done the same though his OS is (or was) Lubuntu: https://www.channelfourteen.com/2017/02/joaos-thing-he-did-lbuntu-with-xfce.html
I have tried to follow Joao's instructions with Trisquel mini but I don't seem to have a line for panel-settings in /home/yourUser/.config/lxsession/Lubuntu/desktop.conf
What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you are referring to this: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/main-menu-alternatives.
It worked on my Trisquel Mini install. I kept the lxpanel line in the autostart config file so I could play around with both panels.
Then of course, you have to remove all unwanted items from the xfce4-panel and you get your Whisker menu at hand.

Does that mean you have two panels?
In the above configuration, yes. I kept the full lxde panel and just added the Whisker menu. You can reduce the whole xfce4 panel to a small square with the Whisker menu icon on it. So basically you can move it around until you've found the position that suits your needs best.
The Whisker menu shortcuts (configuration, logout, etc.) will probably not work without installing extra xfce components, though.

Will you post an image of how it looks?
Well I'm afraid it looks pretty much like an lxde panel with a Whisker menu icon. And a funny icon theme.
I see, thanks.
But how did you get it to fit 'in' your lxde panel? or did you kind of shorten the lxde panel in order to male room for the very short/narrow xfce panel?
We are talking about two separate panels, right?

Yes.

Right.
