I would like a simple traffic monitor with a display showing download + upload, daily weekly monthly figures. vnstat is installed but i don't know how to start it. Terminal command line code is a mystery to me.

Is there a GUI for vnstat ? (in win 7 netmeter is used)

thanks.

You could use:

vnstat: This is a command line tool that does what you're looking for
iftop: Another command line tool that resembles top

Thanks but I'm useless when it comes to using the command line and writing code.

Pointing and clicking with a graphical user interface is usually my way.

How do you start vnstat ?

Got the vnstat working using the terminal. I followed the tutorial;

https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/vnstat-network-monitoring-ubuntu/

result =
see attatchment.

that's good.
