Some HP laptops are known to have hardware DRMs. That is why it is possible that you cannot change the Wifi card. And Wifi usually is the problem. You basically cannot know the Wifi chipset unless you test the laptop. The only exceptions I am aware of are the laptops sold on http://libre.thinkpenguin.com since ThinkPenguin guarantees that all its hardware works with Linux-libre, hence with any 100% GNU/Linux distribution such as Trisquel.

So, unless you buy a laptop on http://libre.thinkpenguin.com (by the way, using this link, 25% on the benefits on your purchase would go to the Trisquel project), prepare to buy a Wifi adapter on... http://libre.thinkpenguin.com ! Or on http://tehnoetic.com

As for the rest of the hardware, you will be fine as long as you stick with computer with an Intel pre-Skylake graphical chipset.

However, another obvious issue with the models you show us is that you would end up giving money to Microsoft, a company that does not deserve it. You had better find a laptop with GNU/Linux or no operating system.

Like I wrote, try to find a laptop with an Intel pre-Skylake graphical chipset, without Windows, and save some bucks to buy Wifi adapters either at http://libre.thinkpenguin.com or at http://tehnoetic.com

I do not know the offer in Portugal. In France, some vendors propose laptops without Windows. See http://www.ldlc.com/informatique/ordinateur-portable/pc-portable/c4265/+fv403-2134,5085+fv121-6574,9987,8848,9873,9431,13916,13858,13857,13688,12862,12878,14014.html for instance for laptops that satisfy the criteria I mentioned.

I guess you could try asking the free suppliers for a discount since you're getting 5. I have no idea whether they'd be interested though.

It's crazy one can't buy a computer without windoze!

Here in Brazil we have an article that gives the consumer the right to demand that the manufacturer removes any product that is bundled together with the main product, and all this must be done without additional acquisition price for the consumer, and the bundled product price must also be discounted from the acquisition price.

If I recall correctly, France has recently adapted a rule/law to similar effect.

Perhaps you also have the same right in Portugal. You just have to remember two things:

1. In most countries, most rights are subjective, and so targets only some people. Other students on the legal field also state that: unless such people inform themselves of their rights and demand them, the rights are not always applied.

2. It depends on you and the people that assist or represent you to seek this rights.

I believe many countries prohibit forced bundles. Unfortunately, computer manufacturers do not respect the law and the buyer has to spend a lot of time to reach a judge that may well decide (by ignorance) that the operating system is a part of the computer, not an addition to it.

I believe the political effect to directly buy computers that come without proprietary software may be greater because more users can do that. Anyway, if anybody goes the path of pre-installed software reimbursement in France, http://non.aux.racketiciels.info helps.

Some sellers will occasionally try to clean the hands of the manufacturers by giving you some amount of money and removing the product themselves, but this is not their obligation, and only serves to make the corresponding right/law ineffective if no one else is able to pressure the manufacturer on complying with the law.

I can not recommend very slim design, like ultrabooks, but Intel® Celeron® Processor N3050 has only 6w of TDP. Does Acer has a SATA or onboard soldered flash memory? This will be problem if it doesn't has SATA port, you won't be able to upgrade 32gb of memory internally. In gibibytes it will be less.

I recommend you to buy used Thinkpad, x60, t400. If you have money, just buy a Minifree laptop.

As said Magic Banana, if you buy new notebook, a part of your money, goes to Microsoft (the evil company). So, do not buy a computer with Microsoft Windows preinstalled.
