means it that ver. 4.5.x will only run for a year? I hope not.

This only means there will not be any development (in particular no security update) after one year of existence. It would therefore be a very bad idea to keep on using this version once this happens. If you do not want to update the distribution that often, only use LTS versions.

The standard non LTS versions of Ubuntu are supported for 18 months, in comparison to the 12 of Trisquel which is based off of Ubuntu. Since the Trisquel versions come out months after the official Ubuntu releases, is that why the support window is only 12 months?
