A pixel art and sprite editor under GPLv2. Available with and without 3rd party libraries (this may need investigation). I only got it to work by downloading the version with 3rd party libraries but they were things like libgif and libpng.

That package is in Ubuntu "raring". This means it should be included in the future 7.0 release.
Are we skipping 6.0, or is it a further out projection than the next release?
No, that is a projection based on release history and how we get our packages:
* Trisquel 6.0 packages are based on Ubuntu 12.04 "Precise"
* Trisquel 6.5 packages should be based on Ubuntu 12.10 "Quantal"
* Trisquel 7.0 packages should be based on Ubuntu 13.04 "Raring"
Since the package was incorporated into the Ubuntu 13.04 pre-release that when Trisquel incorporates those packages for the 7.0 version it will include Aseprite
