Excelsior!

No more Microsoft! I'm free!

I successfully installed 4.1 alongside Vista. I would have gotten rid of Vista altogether but my father's clients are on it and we're not through with those drag-behinds.

Memory:

2 Gib w/ Vista

2.9 Gib w/ Trisquel (I'm reckoning that that is the swap partition.)

I would have installed 5.5 but the installation process ceased functioning at "please wait..."

I've made some compromises with certain streaming functions in the browser, but after another installation of FVR, YouTube is functioning (including full-screen mode).

DosBox is up and configured.

Firestarter appears to be functioning.

I still need to try Wine.

I also want to play MAME type games (roms). Kamefu is apparently unsupported.

Any suggestions for "MAME" or "ROMS"?

Thank you.

I love it!

I'm also rocking Taranis (4.1) and updating when 6.0 comes out which is a long term support (LTS) release. As for your MAME situation, all I can find is sdlmame and xmame in the non-free "multivere" repository for Ubuntu for which Trisquel doesn't include. You can try to hunt it down in an Ubuntu repository, but won't get advice from the people here in how to install it.

If you do like emulation, theres always fceu (NES) and zsnes (SNES) emulators available to download in the Trisquel repos.

I don't know what you plan to use WINE for although most applications in
Microsoft Windows which one might want to use are not free. There are a few
exceptions though. I'm not sure if any of the exceptions will actually work
in WINE. Be weary of WINE and I'd suggest avoiding use of it altogether.

Thank you.

I found sdlmame and xmame and I think I'll try them.

I found a portable version. No need to install anything.
