I've made the installation according to the official instructions and I am running "Vidalia" but it's unable to initiate the TOR Browser and it's log shows the following errors:
May 30 13:14:45.159 [Warning] Could not bind to 127.0.0.1:9050: Address already in use. Is Tor already running?
May 30 13:14:45.159 [Warning] /var/run/tor is not owned by this user (antarta, 1000) but by debian-tor (113). Perhaps you are running Tor as the wrong user?
May 30 13:14:45.159 [Warning] Before Tor can create a control socket in "/var/run/tor/control", the directory "/var/run/tor" needs to exist, and to be accessible only by the user account that is running Tor. (On some Unix systems, anybody who can list a socket can connect to it, so Tor is being careful.)
May 30 13:14:45.159 [Warning] Failed to parse/validate config: Failed to bind one of the listener ports.
May 30 13:14:45.159 [Error] Reading config failed--see warnings above.
What to do ? :(
excuse me about the title mistake, problems *
Anyone ? I wouldn't bump the thread but I need to visit a website blocked by my ISP.
I've followed the instructions on the website and run the commands, as instructed, in terminal. How do I run an app of which I have the files ? I don't know how to do that, I am 100% new to GNU / LINUX.
Can you clarify specifically which directions you followed and anything you did before that in relation to Tor?
The ones stated here: https://www.torproject.org/docs/debian
I don't do that for the Tor Browser Bundle. I just download their tar.gz,[1] put it in my home folder, and run it (well, I create a menu icon and use that). It's much easier.
