I'm aware that Firefox, SeaMonkey and Thunderbird contained issues regarding non-free software, ie. that it was advertising non-free software. Are there any plans to release SeaMonkey for Trisquel at all?

I am reasonably happy using Abrowser/Thunderbird, however I have always preferred SeaMonkey, especially for email-related purposes.

I did read other topics regarding this, but they were a little unclear. The Launchpad link was broken and I'm fairly certain it contained the "default" SeaMonkey that recommends non-free addons.

Hi,

Now you got me wondering if SeaMonkey is free. Since I saw SeaMonkey in the SPM my impression was that it is free, so I install in my system SeaMonkey 2.8, because is not just a browser but a suite and had used exclusively for about three years.

I know that in Debian they re-branded SeaMonkey and call it IceApe because of the register name but I don´t know much more.

Can some one clarify if SeaMonkey is free and if not, then why it´s available in the Synaptic package manager?

The issues with these browsers/email programs is not that they are non-free
as they aren't. It is that they are linking to non-free software and by
associate the project might be perceived as recommending non-free software.
Essentially SeaMonkey is ok if you don't tell others you are using it or
click the links to or use the non-free components.

Anybody who is really really really well informed want to chime in?

I think the fact we are talking about it is more of a problem than if you
were to actually use just the free bits.
