Hey guys,

I was looking for an IDE and found Geany in the repository. I visited the web site and downloaded the lastest source distribution(geany-1.34.1) -> link here : https://www.geany.org/Download/Releases

I opened a terminal and typed ./configure and got an error saying something like "gtk-2.0 is missing".

I typed sudo apt install libgtk-2.0 and noticed a bunch of libmono was installed with it.

Also the apt install downloaded and installed about 147 certificates :

Im asking if this is ok because I opened another thread asking about C#(Mono / .NET Core) usage in GNU OS. link here -> https://trisquel.info/fr/forum/new-member-who-needs-helpadvise#comment-139156

If this is not ok how can I revert this?(For certificates)

For uninstalling libgtk-2.0 I think this is correct (sudo apt remove --purge libgtk-2.0)?

Thanks.

The concern is over patents. The FSF doesn't require endorsed distros to do anything in particular with regard to those. See "Patents" in
https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-system-distribution-guidelines.html

This is also a good discussion on the topic before proceeding further:
