Yeah. I'm so cool, I am sure everyone here cares about my naming tradition preferences.
I like it so much that I had to shout the title of this thread to the face of everyone reading this forum. "Deborah" and "Ian" both are names of biblical origins, and our religion tells use we should not use any name from the bible, and especially not in combination, that would be an abomination. I believe we can still use deb packages, else I'll have to switch to rpm at some point.
The celtic deities are not in the bible, so it's a good naming tradition we can condone.
Thanks for listening my decision I will definitely move to this os when it make some changes as we are expecting.....
Regards,
Prospero, rightful Duke of Milan
For those who doubted it and could not check for themselves, both Ian and Deborah are of Hebraic origin, as Wikipedia will tell, among others. I have of course no problem with Debian's name being a combination of Deb and Ian, although I usually go for Devuan instead. This has nothing to do with naming and everything to do with init freedom. I would not try to give Debian a bad name just because of systemd, though. Debian people are awesome. Trisquel people are gorgeous. Devuan people probably come from a parallel universe.
I think you're trolling, but also, I think you're not quite understanding the issue - "Deborah" and "Ian" are not the names of gods, fake or otherwise. Although they may have (Christian) biblical origins, not being the names of gods makes them ok to use by Muslims, as I understand it.
anyway if the name and symbols are a problem, i recommend use PureOS o modify the things you need to make it how you want, here you have the freedom to modify how your intelectual freedom want.
Perfectly Said same I am using :))
"maybe a new name more relation with freedom can be better that something from outside the objetive of a free distro."
That what we are saying like UBUNTU
The Full Form of UBUNTU is from the Zulu word (ùɓúntú) that translates as “humanity towards others”
For only naming point of view not for supporting non free repo.
TRISQUEL SHOULD USE NAME RELATE TO FREEDOM OF USERS NOT RELATE TO THEIR
celtic gods I know it is their own Faith but every person is independent and anything other Religion Forbids so it is really a big concerned so many users moved towards other os who respect freedom and name both are in the category of freedom.
Maybe you didn't realized the origin of the name when you chosed trisquel as a distro. The project will not change, there are using Celtics name since the beginning... AND there are more "codename". So don't take it as "religious symbol". It's NOT the topic about the project.
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/logo
If you disagree and it's your right you can chose any distros you like, software under the hood are the same :-) ubuntu, debian, it's not really a big difference.
Please speak about Free Software here, NOT about religion.
After all we don't care about codenames, it's only useful for organizing things.
* Trisquel versions are named after Celtic gods.
This is something very irratating think out of box
You were tshirt named only ALLAH IS MY GOD(CREATOR)
WILL YOU WEAR THAT TSHIRT ?
A BIG NO SO WHY LIKING THAT THING FOR OTHER RELIGION IS FIRST THEN OTHER THINGS WE ARE CONCERN ABOUT ETHICAL POINT OF VIEW OF FSF DUE TO RELIGION THAT DUE TO US NO SOFTWARE CAN DO MALICIOUS OR ILLEGAL THINGS BUT IF WE HAVE OPEN SOURCE APPS AND CODE SO WE CAN SURE THAT NO ILLEGAL AND MALICIOUS ACTIVITIES ARE PERFORMING SO MANY USERS THINKS ABOUT ETHICS NOT ONLY DATA AND PRIVACY AT ALL ... !!!
See this Trisquel Author written Celtic gods.
means it is not about just name but their Celtic gods.
We know Ark74 meant there are no Celtic gods or goddesses because he lower cased the word god. It's not complicated. I know English is not your first language, but if it was I don't think you would be having this issue.
If you disagree with the project. You can make a trisquel derivative and remove Celtics symbols.
Trisquel god are NOT god like allah. We don't have the same view about religion. Trisquel come from Europe. I don't know where you are but if it hurt you, pick another distro. There are parabola, hyperbola, gnuinos, guix.
Could someone please move this thread to the Troll Lounge too? Yelling is not welcome in the Troll Lounge either, but at least that would keep the main Trisquel users forum a peaceful place.
EDIT: now all this is happening in the Troll Lounge, could we discuss init freedom instead?
Speaking of init freedom, I've been telling people to try Gnuinos instead of Debian: https://www.gnuinos.org/
Most people probably wouldn't be able to tell that they aren't on Debian anyway. And they wouldn't have the non-free software repo issues like with Debian.
basically pureos just os not librem hardware
SO I AM USING PUREOS WHICH IS BASED ON DEBIAN AND STRIPPED NON FREE REPO SO GOOD TO USE FSF ENDORSED AND RESEARCHED THAT IT'S OS IS TOTALLY FREE IN SPEECH OF FREEDOM.
You seem to have taken a wrong turn: this is not the Troll Loo but the Troll Lounge.
So then your problem is resolved. Please let it go.
The Debian Mother Goddess without the nonfree blurb and with init freedom. Gnuinos is definitely the light ahead. Not that Trisquel is missing anything, but diversity is always stimulating.
Also, no greedy corporation puppeteering backstage.
I believe only Microsoft Windows is free from religious terminology, as unix-like systems love the term "daemon" (named after Maxwell's Daemon, in which the term Daemon doesn't mean the Christian idea of demon, but closer to the Islamic idea of jinn). No it's not just systemd that has the term daemon, so far as I know it's impossible to use a Unix-like system (even proprietary ones like macOS or AIX) without anything named "daemon."
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daemon_(computing)#Terminology
Microsoft Windows instead calls daemons "services."
But I will check this resource soon good resource...
