I am considering purchasing the Thinkpenguin Wifi USB https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-wireless-n-usb-adapter-gnu-linux-tpe-n150usb but I am wondering whether this will be good enough. If you own this device let me know how it works for you, and whether it is worth purchasing.
I am also considering https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-wireless-n-dual-band-usb-adapter-gnu-linux-tpe-nusbdb but this seems like overkill perhaps.
Do free wifi drivers work better in general than non-free ones? This question is sort of irrelevant because I am choosing not to use a non-free driver but it would be interesting to know.
The drivers usually are distributed under the GNU GPL along with Linux. What is proprietary (or not) is the firmware that the kernel loads into the peripheral where it is executed. I doubt there even exists proprietary equivalent to the free Atheros firmware we have (for the Atheros AR9170, AR9270 and AR9271 chipsets... and maybe other chipsets). Atheros simply freed it. According to the description of the "openfwwf" package, the free firmware for the Broadcom BCM43xx chipsets really is an alternative to a proprietary one. I have no idea if there are differences in terms of features/performance. Finally, some older Wifi boards do not even need any firmware.
That adapter works well for me. It's hard to say how well it will work for you without knowing the specifics of your use-case.
Chris from Think Penguin has said that the mini adapter isn't great going through walls or at a long distance. I suppose he's probably correct, but not enough to affect me significantly.

Magic Banana already explained why this question generally doesn't make sense for wi-fi drivers, but I'll answer a different question, replacing "wifi drivers" with "drivers and firmware". The answer to that question is "no". Any program, whether libre or proprietary, can be technically good or bad. This applies to drivers and firmware, too. In fact, if there's a proprietary driver commonly in use (usually this happens with video cards), you can be pretty sure that the proprietary driver works much better than the libre driver, because if this wasn't the case, no one would be going through the hassle to use it.

After installing Trisquel 7 I have WIFi connection problem with my Huawei USB 3G modem, because I always read the following:
"Creating object for path '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/9' failed in libnm-glib"
How can I solve the problem? Thanks since now.

Hello! I've solved the problem with the Thinkpenguin Wifi USB adapter.
I have been using these adaptors for the last 2 years or so and have had no issues at all. Range is fairly good and the speed is more than acceptable.
As for the stability of the drivers, I haven't really noticed any big issues with them. They work when needed and don't get in the way.
