Hi to everyone!
I don't know why the Penguin wireless N mini PCIe card for GNU/Linux (TPE-NMPCIE) with chipset Atheros AR9281, full height mini PCIe doesn't work on a notebook ACER Extensa 5510z with Chipset Mobile Intel ® 943/945GML Express and an installation of Trisquel 9.0.2 Mini. Idem with Lubuntu 18.04.6. The card has been recognized, but doesn't work. No problem with the previous wireless G mini PCIe card Atheros AR5BXB63 with an installation of Trisquel 9.0.2 Mini or Lubuntu 18.04.6. Thanks for the attention.
Hello
Did you to verify the hardware on https://h-node.org/search/form/en ?
Open terminal and get the results on $ lspci -vmmnn
The hardware is RYF certified: https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-wireless-n-mini-pcie.
I think that means that Richard Stallman personally shows up at your door with a screwdriver and a roll of electrical tape to fix it if it's not working. RYF is a kind of lifetime warranty, right?
This may be closer to reality than you realize.
Having open hardware that runs exclusively on free software means that it is going to be much easier to fix it and to repair it if needed.
Also, I am sure rms would gladly show up at your door and fix it, given the massive amount of time he has been sharing with the rest of the world.
I would first check whether I have properly connected the antennas.
The "main" black antenna should go to the "main" or "0" connector, and the "auxiliary" white antenna should go to the "auxiliary" or "1" connector. On Atheros cards the connector labels seem to be "ANT1" and "ANT2", respectively.
In any case, you may want to contact ThinkPenguin about your situation: https://www.thinkpenguin.com/contact.
