The F-Droid lists an anti-feature for the Wikipedia app:

"- This app tracks and reports your activity"

What is meant by that?

Does it track things I do on my phone besides the things I do inside the app?

Or does it track and report the things I do on the app as a registered user?

In what regard does it track and report?

I'm not familiar with the software, but this may answer some of your questions.

It looks like the information Wikipedia asks for is to enable certain features. It's possible that if you don't want the features you don't need to give Wikipedia access to this information.

What is this page anyway? Mediawiki, never heard of it

Wikimedia Foundation has many sister projects apart from the free encyclopedia. MediaWiki is one and Wikimedia Commons (pictures) is another. There's WikiQuote as well.

MediaWiki is a free wiki software package and the page is for the development and documentation of the software that powers the main project, Wikipedia.
